Boh, Boh, Boh!

One of our favourite Rungas, and let's face it there are a few, is Boh. The sexy rock chick has always been fashionably turned out and more than a little creative in her personal expression. Last year she created her first range of jewellery, the Birdland Collection, in partnership with NZ Mint and many were impressed. Exciting then that multi-talented Boh has now released her second range, again in partnership with NZ Mint entitled The Messenger Stories. We love the way she has actively sought out some of the coolest flora and fauna of Aotearoa and so simply, and prettily, turned them into wearable pieces. Our favourites are the Fantail pendant (above) - we love Fantails - and the Miromiro bracelet (below). Actually, it's all pretty cool. Go, go , go Boh!

Sony Black Eye At Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 - Day 4

Well. Huffer topped off a fine fashion week in style, wharfside at the Hilton Hotel. The rain held off, in fact an earlier shower created a perfectly glistening runway. A bunch of fishermen - including the ubiquitously fashionable Ali Williams, a long time Huffer cohort - cast their rods as the bumper crowd watched on. Styled by Black Senior Fashion Editor Atip W, the Huffer show didn't dissapoint and for the second year in a row topped the week off nicely. Karen Walker also didn't fail to impress with her classy (as always) range at Stephen Marr in Newmarket. A special mention of the Trelise Cooper Kids show earlier in the day too - just so cute! We secretly hoped to see the two kids from the Hyundai ad come flying in on a rope. Great wee show though and perhaps fittingly we have chosen a youngster, Page Grant-Huggett (above) to win our last Sony E-Series Walkman. All in all a good end to the week. Congratulations to all of the designers, crew and people behind the scenes. We will post a 'best of' blog in the next few days. In the meantime here is Sony Black Eye for the final day:

A serious contender for best-dressed of the week was the one and only Bryanboy. Here he is in Prada jacket, shirt by J.R, Topshop jeans, Dior Homme shoes, Charles Jourdan bag, a fabulous necklace by Ciara Serumgard and sunnies by the excellently-named Folded & Hung.

We thought these two looked really good together. Alex wears a vintage vest, shirt, shoes, satchel and Supre jeans. Natasha wears...vintage everything. Vintage couple then...

Jenny from Acrimony in San Fransisco looked great all week. Here she is in a YMC shirt, Iro scarf, pants by K.Kia in Los Angeles, Chanel shoes, a Prada bag and super-cool ring from Bijules in New York.

For a short period of time ANZFW was awash with rather stylishly dressed kids and Page Grant-Huggett stood out to us among many. Page wears a Trelise Cooper Kids top and skirt, a fur from World and shoes from Sydney.

Josh from World, our choice on day 1, is a little more casual by weeks end but still looking good in Crowded Elevator tee, Stolen Girlfriends Club vest and necklace, Supra shoes and Lee jeans. Maddy wears Sass & Bide pants, a Youthworld dress, a bag she bought in Australia and some shoes Josh suggests are "Dominatrix shoes", also from Sydney.

Peter Marshall looked simple but cool in a Little Brother jacket, American Apparel T-Shirt, Versace jeans and Doc Martens.

Phoebe Watt wears a Mala Brakovic bodysuit teamed with a vintage skirt and Karen Walker sunglasses.

Soft clean and flyaway

Photo: Michael Ng

In a soft, flyaway masterstroke Greg Murell gave the hair at the Zambesi show last night a whimsical magical touch that was reminiscent of the morning walk to school the day after hair washing night. You could almost smell the scent of Green Apple Shampoo waft through the air as head after head of delicate fluffy tresses passed by, blonde brunette and ginger alike, these magical manes of silky fuzz looked perfectly pillow dried and homespun.
Thanks for the memories Greg...

Sony Black Eye At Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 - Day 3

Photos by Tash Hopkins and Rachael Churchward

Zambesi topped off another day in the Fashionable AK with a monster warehouse show last night that underlined exactly why Liz Findlay and her talented team are so revered, year after year. We'd like to make a special mention of one of our favourite models too, Josh, who whilst storming down the runway in a dark Zambesi Man ensemble reminded Black Creative Director Rachael Churchward of a 'beautiful serial killer you would like to take home'. Lonely Hearts also impressed yesterday but we are here for Sony Black Eye so let's get straight to the personal style that we loved:

The very stylish Hailwoods. Cathy (left) wears a Merino top and Hailwood boots. Ray wears a Barkers jacket, Des Rusk shirt, Lee Jeans and a Wanderkammer pendant. Adrian wears a Hailwood tee, Hussain Charlayan shirt, Paul Smith denim jacket, April 7 jeans, Comme Des Garcons shoes and a Wanderkammer ring. Shoes by Roberto Cavalli.

Gibb Seabrook has looked great two days in a row and wins yesterday's Sony Walkman. Gibb wears a Little Brother jacket and gloves, a vintage waistcoat, Satori tie, Levi's jeans, Hudson patent leather shoes and LA Eyeworks glasses.

Paper Magazine's Paul Johnson Calderon once again, features with this ensemble, and is fast becoming a favourite for best dressed of the week. We agreed yesterday to interview Paul and vice versa about our respective magazines - magazine love at Air NZ Fashion Week!

The impossibly talented Gareth Moody (left) was a founding designer at Tsubi before leaving and setting up his super hot Aussie label Chronicles Of Never now into it's third year. Gus (right) also works at Chronicles and the pair, who are over here to meet buyers and media, are dressed head to toe in current and recent seasons Chronicles Of Never.

This trio had been attending the Michael Patterson show. Will (left) wears a Pete Vs Toby jacket, 27 Names sailor top, Workshop jeans, Hudsons Of London shoes and Parsol sunnies. Geneva (centre) wears a Dejuba top, vintage leatherjacket, Pat Menzies sneakers and Mooks sunnies. Kieran (right) wears Cotton On long sleeve tee, Jeans by Michael Patterson and shoes by Puma

Showroom 22 PR maestro Murray Bevan with Ollie The Fashion Wonder Dog who apears for the second time here on BlackLOG. Ollie wears Doggy & Gabanna fleece jacket, Ruffer necklace and Barkers belt thingy. Shiny coat, model's own.

Aussie model Adele wears a Ksubi shirt, Minty Meets Munt cardigan, Rest In Peace tights and Adidas boxing boots.

Ryland Wood wears Michael Patterson shirt and waistcoat, Monte castella shirt and glasses bought in a market in Bali.

Cade John Norton wears a Tarocash shirt, a vintage blazer which looks suitably nautical for the location, and black Lee jeans.

Models Red and Lauren have been walking all week at ANZFW so it wasn't surprising to catch them relaxing in the comfy bar area. Lauren who will appear in our Dark Horses shoot in the forthcoming issue of Black Magazine wears a vintage blazer and bag, Sass & Bide body suit, Lonely Hearts pants, the Stolen Girlfriends Club shoes she wore in their show the previous night and vintage Wayfarers. Red wears a Hallensteins tee, Levi's belt, Lee jeans and some loafers he bought for $10.

Georgia Fowler wears a Witchery leather jacket, Topshop top and skirt and scarf from a market in Europe.

It wasn't so much Billy's outfit (above) that we loved, it was his attitude...

Model Tia Woods (below) who also appears in our "Dark Horses" shoot in the upcoming issue of Black Magazine relaxes on the wharf in a Lippy shirt, Lee jeans, Max hat and sandals by Jessica Simpson.

Sony Black Eye At Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 - More from Day 2

Here's a few more stylish types from yesterday's ANZFW:

Wellington dance diva Sheba who performs at SoHomo Club tonight and Kuhja Lounge mid-November wears a vintage jacket and a dress by fellow Wellingtonian Lela Jacobs.

New Yorker Paul Johnson Calderon is dressed for a nice day in Charvet bow-tie, Earnest Sewn cut-off jeans, Marni cardigan and Rag & Bone hat.

Zoe Fleury a.k.a Bionic Pixie who added plenty to the Hailwood show a couple of nights back with her electrosexy grooves...

Briana (below) was visiting ANZFW when the folks from Skunk Funk thought she would look good in this cute little dress of theirs and we agree. Skunk Funk have a stall on site and are well worth a visit. Briana also wears op shop shoes and 'dance' tights.

Sony Black Eye At Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 - Day 2

Images by Tash Hopkins and Rachael Churchward

Ok, Day 2 of Air NZ Fashion Week was pretty special, just like Day 1. It started with a hell of a show as did the previous day. Alex Jaeha-Kim, aka Jaeha, take a bow, your show heralded the future of New Zealand fashion. Once again, we are on deadline with our first bi-annual issue of Black Magazine so we missed a couple of shows we really wanted to see today, but loved Deborah Sweeney, Twenty Seven Names and Stolen Girlfriends was suitably huge. Right now though we're reflecting the people that actually attend ANZFW with Sony Black Eye and we've had a lot of fun today capturing that individuality. We can honestly say that you, the punters, are fashionably exciting. Here's Rachael Churchward's choices of the day, not looking for labels, just personal style. A lot more to come in the morning...!

NZ Fashion Hall Of Fame designer Patrick Steele (below middle) is captured with Christopher Blomquist (below right) from the legendary Sportswear International and the utterly fabulous Bryanboy (below left) of Bryanboy.com who even more fabulously suggests on his website that he is "so gay he sweats glitter!"

Patrick wears a very sharp Arthur Galan suit with Prada shoes. Christopher wears Loden Dager plaid shirt/jacket, Topshop scarf and shoes, Coming Soon rugby shirt and J.Lindeberg jeans. Bryanboy wears Jaeha cardigan and jeans, Topshop white tee, Ciara Serumgard necklace, Hermes bag, Dior Homme shoes and a Zara belt. Now that's a top trio if ever we saw one....

Stylist Karlya wears a Docherty Wilkins coat, Kate Sylvester top and shorts, Anne Valery Hash shoes, Miu Miu bag and a clear cut hangover by Moet.

DJ Takas wears a 'Lion Suit' transported especially from Wellington for the occasion. Genius! What Lion doesn't own his tail...

Delaney Tabron, Publisher and Editor of No Magazine wears a Sass & Bide singlet doubled with a Workshop singlet, American Apparel dress, a favourite black cardy and Doc Martens. Matt in the middle wears a Workshop shirt, Little Brother bag, Levi's and Doc Martens. Katie Newton, Fashion Editor of the Sunday Star Times wears: Karen Walker shirt, Country Road trousers with a Gucci bag.

Noelle McCarthy, NZ Herald observer, columnist and Runway Reporterist wears a new season Ms Crabb dress, G&L shoes and Kate Sylvester jewellery and wishes to say that against popular belief, or, popular belief outlined by Remix Editor Tim Phin, Noelle does NOT change her outfit four times a day, only twice...!

Tim Phin, Publisher and Editor of Remix Magazine wears the first of his four outfits for the day, according to Noelle McCarthy. We caught him on the hop in Workshop jeans, Federation shirt, Zambesi tie, a 'random' leather jacket from Italy, Puma shoes and some fine-looking D&G sunnies.

Shaun, superstylish DJ of SoHomo fame, caught our eye at Jaeha in a jacket, legging and sharp shoe ensemble and later in the day had evolved rather nicely into this...Shaun (left) wears an H&M jacket, Louis Vuitton tie, trousers garnered from Glenn & Amanda at the 1 AM offices, shoes also borrowed from Glenn Hunt and fabulously vintage sunnies. Linay Wy wears: A Strangely Normal shirt, Levi's jeans and Zambesi shoes. We love it!

Amanda "Book 'Em" Betts is hot in her Lonely Hearts Club waistcoat, Stolen Girlfriends club tee, G-Star shorts, Yohji Yamamoto boots and Meadowlark/Hunters & Collectors jewellery.

Sony Black Eye At Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 - Day 1

Day 1 winner Josh picks up a Sony Walkman for this little shiner. Photos Rachael Churchward and Tash Hopkins.

First up congratulations to Pieter, Myken, Robyn, Pak, and all the crew behind ANZFW 2008. A top first day, kicked off by World's brilliant, exciting and so very spangling, so very World show. How good it was to see that much sparkle and style in New Zealand, let alone at a Fashion Week. Go you twinkling things!

We are on deadline so we missed a couple of shows, apologies for that, but we did manage to get around a fair bit and look at the fashion on offer in the stalls and thoroughfares of Air New Zealand Fashion Week itself. Sony Black Eye at Air NZ Fashion Week is our opportunity to hunt down the fashion and personal style of those attending. People like you. We'll be wandering around with our Sony Alpha's all this week and we have Sony Walkman's for the best dressed, so get your gears on. Celebrate ANZFW by wearing something with enough punch to give us a Sony Black Eye. Here are our Fashion and Beauty Director Rachael Churchward's choices of the day. Rachael chooses people she finds with their own individual style, whether it be from Portmans, Louis Vuitton, a vintage store, Helen Cherry or your Mum's wardrobe. For her, it is about how you wear your look, not just the label. Sony Black Eye at Air NZ Fashion Week is about capturing individuality.

First up, our favourite photographer slash stylist slash hot chick and tonight, stylist for Nom D. Karen Inderbitzen-Waller wears: Kate Sylvester cardigan and necklace, Nom D scarf and top, Miu Miu belt, Levi's jeans and very cool Zambesi shoes. We love her effortless and casually chic style. You gotta have it, you can't buy it.

The first male model out in Air NZ Fashion Week 2008 was World's BJ. We noticed his presence and the way he walked. BJ wears: Vintage leather jacket and gloves, Tiger shoes, Bonds tee, Cheap Monday jeans and Ray-Bans

We saw Phillip prior to World and asked to meet him afterwards. Phillip wears: World from head-to-toe except for the shoes which are Converse.

Super cute stylist Sonia Greenslade wears: Hailwood dress, a Trelise Cooper jacket, Costume National boots, Karen Walker eyewear and Sabine bag.

We LOVE J'J'J- Jarrod. He wears: Zambesi jumper, Martin Margiela pants, Nom D scarf, Rick Owen shoes, Zambesi bag and a necklace from Briar, a friend.

Bill. Bill? Yep, Bill wears: A Cutler & Co jacket, a long sleeve tee, Point Zero jeans, Xiner shoes and a Burberry bag.

Earthy, earthy Rose wears: "A whole bunch of "overseas stuff" bought in London and India.

Christy wears: Vintage dress, Nine West shoes, a belt she borrowed from her friend Ana, eyewear by Karen Walker and a vintage estate necklace.

Josh shines in: A World suit, Stolen Girlfriends singlet, shirt, waistcoat and necklace, Ksubi eyewear and Love Thy Neighbour shoes.

Barbara wears a Barbara Lee anorak, a merino wool top and some of her favourite old pants and running boots! We'll see you on Day 2 at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2008 with our Sony Alphas on hand...
